South Africa’s public and private sectors should put foot on the energy accelerator

A country with sufficient energy can advance economically. A country with insufficient energy cannot. The private sector finds energy generation good business. The public sector is seeing that the spare energy it has is taken up by energy-intensive industry to ensure that jobs are not lost.

While we don’t have to strive to be an energy superpower, collectively building energy strength on the home front can only do good – and all the better if the additional energy that we generate is green and clean so that it can facilitate the earning of metal and mineral price premiums on the export front. So, there must be no hesitation about collaboratively removing obstacles in the way of energy growth and enthusiasm about collectively boosting energy capacity.
